Safe shelter and support for women and children escaping violence. The doors of Haven House are open 365 days a year.

Haven House provides shelter, food, information, referrals, and support for women and their children who are experiencing physical, emotional, or psychological violence in their lives. All Haven House services support self-awareness, self-determination and self-esteem based on each person’s situation, needs, and understanding.

A Women’s Support Worker is always available for crisis counselling, assessment, admission or referral support. Advocacy and accompaniment is available when possible for medical purposes, legal services, and community and social service appointments. Childcare, nutritious food, bedding, and laundry facilities are provided in a secure environment that is focused on the safety and well-being of each resident.

Children’s Counselling at Haven House
The children’s counsellor at Haven House works with mothers and their children in a specialized counselling room created just for children. Children are supported in developing personal safety plans and are provided with information about abuse to help them understand that the abuse is not their fault. Mothers are provided with parenting support and positive role-modelling activities.
