Willow WAI
Willow: for women, with or without children who are at risk of homelessness due to violence, addiction concerns, sex trade activity, incarceration and/or poverty.
WAI: for men & women at risk of homelessness
Haven Society operates Willow WAI in collaboration with Nanaimo and Area Resources for Families and Mental Health and Addiction Services. The Willow WAI program offers: stable and supportive transitional housing in a secure and safe location where women and their children are given the opportunity to foster personal responsibility and empowerment in a caring home atmosphere; an integrated day program thatprovides life skills training, trauma recovery support, and employability skills training and the Wrap Around Initiative (WAI) which provides flexible funding and a community support team to assist women and men secure and maintain stable, independent housing.
Willow Criteria:
Homeless or at risk of homelessness
Women, 18 years or older, single (with or without children)
Committed to the process of recovery
Ready for semi-independent living
Emotionally and physically capable of participating in a daily structured programme and communal living
Willing to volunteer 4 hour per week as part of a personal action plan
